Examples of Initiatives
Promote awareness and widespread use of advanced safety and drive assist technologies
Safety and drive assist technologies that prevent accidents or mitigate damage are becoming more sophisticated every year, and the rate at which they are installed in new vehicles is increasing. In Nissan vehicles, too, since the launch of the first vehicle equipped with automatic braking in 1999, we have been working to improve the technology and expand the number of models equipped with the technology, including the introduction of "ProPILOT 2.0 *1" in 2019. On the other hand, according to a survey conducted by Park24 Co., Ltd. *2 as of June 2021, only one in three respondents had driven a vehicle equipped with safety and drive assist technologies, and the adoption of these technologies in the vehicles owned by Japanese drivers is an issue. We are promoting efforts to increase awareness of and promote the use of safety and drive assist technologies by increasing the number of test-drive vehicles and offering VR-based solutions. Currently, in our private leasing "P.O.P." sales, which we started in 1997, approximately 70% of users choose to switch to a new car within 3 years and 80% within 5 years. By increasing the number of users of this service, we will increase the number of test-drive vehicles in our dealers, expand new sales channels through DX promotion of sales tools, and expand opportunities for hands-on experience through the use of car sharing, so that users can experience driving an electric vehicle with average use of a passenger car. Through these efforts, we will promote the strengthening of our sales and proposal capabilities, aiming to achieve annual EV sales of 10,000 units and annual CO2 emission reductions of 16,000 tons by FY2026.
We will continue to aim to increase the ratio of "P.O.P." sales to individual users, as this will help shorten the number of years and encourage people to switch to new vehicles equipped with cutting-edge safety and drive assist technologies.
In addition, it is essential to improve vehicle maintenance techniques. We will support our customers' safe and secure car lifestyles by improving the skills of our 700 mechanics in the group through the introduction of maintenance equipment to obtain certification under the "Automobile Specific Maintenance System" and by providing training to acquire new skills and techniques.
